How is this place different than every other game dev blog out there?
The answer to that is very simple – this blog is written by actual games industry professionals, hence it is a pure “game dev blog”. Typically, when you want to read a lot of informative, interesting editorials about game development and design, you are out of luck. Internet is littered with hundreds of NEWS sites about games, aimed at consumers. I don’t know about you, but I want to read interesting thing about my profession from actual professionals, not journalists. So what about us? Where do we go to read?
Currently, we have some solo-blogs, dev blogs for specific games or topics, and social media. That’s it, there is currently no central place where you can just binge a wall of informative, quality controlled articles that pertain specifically to our field. Even the most aptly named blog that you can find by searching “game developer” on Google, is largely a news site with journalists contributing large portion of articles, and interesting editorials are hidden within sub-menus of the site.
So here we are – hoping that this place becomes your go-to when you want to read something useful about game dev, and not have to scroll subreddits written by people who picked up Unity last week and are trying to create an MMORPG.
